Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure Interoperability Pilot

The Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) Interoperability Pilot developed a nation-wide demonstration of standards-based products that make immediate access to current data a reality. The CGDI Pilot showed that municipal, provincial and territorial authorities can update data and automatically make their up-to-date data available online in real time to those who need it, anywhere across Canada.

LISAsoft extended GeoServer to support cascading WFS functionality central to the success of this project. This functionality was contributed back to the community.

LISASoft developed a browser based client using MapBuilder framework for visualization and digitization of spatial information.

The client incorporated support for:

  • the Catalog (CAT) specification allowing the search and discovery of datasets known to the central server
  • a GeoRSS feed reader to subscribe to changes from data users and data custodians
  • Web feature Server Transaction (WFS-T) to enable the creation, update and deletion of features

Products:

Technologies used:

  • Web Catalog Service  (CAT)
  • Web Feature Server - Transactional  (WFS-T)
  • Web Map Server (WMS)
  • MapBuilder
